Frequently Asked Questions

What is Run Whirlwind?

Run Whirlwind is one of the Northwest’s most anticipated races of 2010.  It is unique in a couple very cool ways.  Running is generally an individual sport but Run Whirlwind is a race with a twist, it will be ran in teams of two.  The first runner will complete a disclosed skills challenge then run a 1.25mile loop.  After the runner completes the loop he/she will “tag in” his/her teammate and the second runner will run the same 1.25 mile loop. Between each transition will be a fun skills challenge making this race more than just a run.  This process will be complete twice allowing each runner to run two loops.

Who should Run?

Are you a marathon runner? Never ran a race? It doesn’t matter you will fit it in at Run Whirlwind.  Run Whirlwind is for anyone of all skill levels! Because Run Whirlwind is ran in team of two it is perfect for couples, parent-child teams, friends, business partners, teammates, or whatever.  We encourage participants to be at least 13 years of age or older.  A kid’s dash for all ages will immediately follow the main race. Run Whirlwind really is for everyone.

What is the Course like?

Bridle Trails State Park is one of the Eastside’s best kept secrets, hosting over 35 miles of beautiful trails in the heart of Kirkland and Bellevue just east of Interstate 405. We chose the Raven Trail as the designated loop for Run Whirlwind.  Along the 1.25 mile loop you can expect to have wide and narrow paths going up and down. As you enjoy your run be sure to take in the scenic surroundings and be on the lookout for someone on horseback!

What is the purpose of Run Whirlwind?

Our committed event team has two goals for Run Whirlwind.  The first goal is to have a lot of fun, we want Run Whirlwind to be an event that is marked in every past participants calendar for the next year because it was so much fun.  The second goal is to raise money for two fantastic King County Parks; Bridle Trails State Park and Kelsey Creek Farm Park.

Who is putting on Run Whirlwind?

Run Whirlwind is hosted by two of Washington’s best Race Directors in Paige Denision and Dean Vergillo.  Along with these two very committed and talented Race Directors they are backed by Whirlwind Services who has been serving the Pacific Northwest for over 25 years as the leader in exterior maintenance. All donations and race revenue will go to Bridle Trails Park Foundation and Kelsey Creek Farm Park.
